60 Minutes

Today workout: swim
2 km (20 laps) freestyle: 60 minutes
First 10 laps (1 km) : 28 minutes

I get a little excited with my pace in the pool today. Yesterday 1 km feel so hard. Today I did 2 km, and the first 1 km was 28 minutes. That is 6 minutes faster from the same distance yesterday, and yet I have another 1 km to go.
Still slow compare to any serious swimmer, but compare to where I am 2 months ago, where I can't even finish the crawl for 200 meters, I have all the reasons to be happy.
My swim rhythm is improving, but still I can point out a thousand thing wrong with my swim
  • Can't sustain 4 strokes per breath for the entire swim. 2 strokes per breath really slow me down
  • my legs was sinking
  • My coach pointed out that my leg wasn't kicking enough
  • Body not streamlined
  • Can only breath on my right hand side. Left side breathing still difficult
  • Keep on forgetting to keep my fingers together (old habit die hard)
  • and rhythm, rhythm and rhythm... still not comfortable with my rhythm
Well, it will get better with practice. Coach Lee planned for me do some drill next week to improve my technique. Now I set my target at 50 minutes for 2 km. If I can get all my technique and breathing right, that should be achievable, maybe in 2-4 weeks. 60 minutes for 2 km, is slow by any mean.

I know I'm still behind in my running. Hard to find time to run. Early morning Saturday will be a quick 45 km cycling ride, then the rest of the day with family. Planned for a 15 km run late Saturday evening or late night. Sunday as usual 100+ km cycling marathon.
